Spicy Sweet Pecans
Are you looking for the perfect salad topper or a handful of something that’s both sweet and savoury to get you to your next meal? Look no further! Using only natural sweeteners and a little bit of spice this is something you can whip up in minutes and have on hand for a long-ass time. Pecans are stupid healthy too - they’re heart healthy, improve digestion, reduces the risk of certain cancers, boosts immunity, they’re anti-aging, anti-inflammatory and because they’re packed with iron they also help promote hair growth and reduce hair loss. Just remember - nuts should be a TOPPING on stuff - don’t eat these by the handful unless you want to pack on the pounds.

Serves: Makes 2 cups work (reduce or double based on how many you want to make).
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups whole pecans (you can use chopped if you want, but they might cook faster)
2 tbsp maple or date syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp chilli powder or cayenne pepper (if you like it really spicy go ahead and double this)
DIRECTIONS:
Heat your oven to 350 degrees. Grab a baking sheet and line it with a silicon sheet or some parchment paper.
Pour pecans into a large bowl and add the syrup and mix until all the nuts are nice and evenly glazed. Add the spices.
Cook for 8 minutes. Take out and toss the buts around. Put back in for another 5 minutes.
Let cool for a few minutes and then store them in an airtight container. Cut these up to put on a salad or keep them as a sometimes-snack and SMASH THEM INTO YOUR MOUTH!
TIPS:
Feel free to go to town with different spice mixes here. You do you and your flavour palette.
This basic formula will work for most nuts, just keep an eye on the cooking time since the size and density of your nuts will make them cook faster or slower. Don’t let that shit burn!
